The Noisy Paint Box: The Colours and Sounds of Kandinsky’s Abstract Art

The Noisy Paint Box: The Colors and Sounds of Kandinsky’s Abstract Art is a picture book written by Barb Rosenstock and illustrated by Mary Grandpre.

The picture book was talking about a Russian boy named Vasya who studied all day long. Until one day, his aunt gave him a wooden paint box. His aunt said every proper boy should appreciate art. Vasya started mixing colors of his paint box and he heard hissing sounds. Then it sounded like an orchestra tuning up. Vasya started painting. Then he showed his family his art. Vasya’s family said he should take art classes. Years later, Vasya studied to be a lawyer. Even though years had passed, he can still hear the music of his childhood. One day, Vasya attended the opera and the colors twirled wildly in his mind. Over time, Vasya quit lawing and decided to be a painter. In the end, he became a good artist and became famous (not exactly).

Once, my family taught me how to be a proper Asian kid. Since we’re in Canada, I refused to be a proper Asian kid with our own culture. Instead, I accepted Canadian culture.

Wanted the Perfect Pet

Wanted the Perfect Pet is a picture book written and illustrated by Fiona Roberton.

The book began with a boy named Henry. Henry wanted something more than possibly everything. Henry wanted a dog more than anything in the world, he always dreamed of having a dog. Henry had 27 types of frogs but he didn’t like them. Once, Henry decided to advertise. Once, there was a duck. Nobody ever wrote to him, he always did activities by himself. He was always spending time with himself, it was getting boring. Finally, the duck found Henry’s advertisement. Henry wanted a dog and the duck thought of a disguise. Once the duck arrived at Henry’s with the disguise, he will finally have a friend. Once the duck arrived at Henry’s house, Henry was very excited to see a dog (he didn’t know it was a duck). Over time, Henry taught the duck tricks, but the duck wasn’t so good at learning. Once, the duck revealed himself that he wasn’t a dog, but an actual duck. Henry was disappointed. Over time, Henry taught the duck some tricks that ducks will do. The duck was finally getting the hang of it. Henry thought the duck he had wasn’t an ordinary duck. Henry decided to call the duck “Spoty” and they lived happily, ever, after.

Once when I was about 4 years old, I wanted a dog very badly. My mom thought we can have a pet so we got a puppy about 3 or 4 months old. I was very happy when I had a dog. Once, my parents went to get a collar and my brother was sent to take care of our new house, the puppy, and me. My brother was too busy worrying about his video games until the puppy escaped. Before I even decide a name for my puppy, he was already lost. It made me very sad. One of the connections I can make between the story and what actually happened is that we both asked for a dog. We bother begged for a dog. Even though we had a dog for a while, our opportunities with our dogs were lost for a few days.
